The Fifth General Assembly and Bi-Annual Meeting of the Africa Platform for Regional Institutions in Fisheries, Aquaculture and Aquatic Systems (APRIFAAS) is jointly hosted by the African Union Inter-African Bureau for Animal Resources (AU-IBAR) and AUDA-NEPAD in collaboration with the Ministerial Conference on Fisheries Cooperation between African States Bordering the Atlantic Ocean (ATLAFCO/COMHAFAT).

The Fourth General Assembly Meeting of APRIFAAS which held on the 18 to 20 of April, 2022 came out with far reaching decisions and recommendations which projected an enriched outcome of the meeting. The overall objective of the meeting is to consolidate the outcomes of the 4th General Assembly Meeting of APRIFAAS and Validate the Framework for Institutional Linkages in Fisheries and Aquaculture.

The event will provide the essential platform to facilitate systematic exchange of information between regional institutions; promote dialogue between stakeholders and facilitate the development of a harmonized work program; enhance African voice in international forums including dialogue process with partners; update membership procedures and operationalize the APRIFAAS Web Platform/ Community of Practice as well as formalizing plans for sustainable funding of APRIFAAS activities.
